Patient Responsibilities

We at Wilbarger General are dedicated to helping you get well and part of that is making sure your time here is a safe and positive experience, and that your wishes and privacy are honored. As our patient you also have certain responsibilities that will help us provide the best and proper care possible.

By making you aware of these responsibilities we hope we can make your experience as pleasant and healing as possible.

Here are your responsibilities when it comes to receiving care at Wilbarger General. Please do not hesitate to ask questions if you do not understand this information or have concerns.

  1. You have a responsibility to provide, to the best of your knowledge, accurate and complete information about your present complaints, past illness, hospitalizations, medications and other matters relating to your health.
  2. You have the responsibility to report unexpected changes in your condition to the responsible health practitioner.
  3. You are responsible for making it known whether you clearly understand the course of action and what is expected of you.
  4. You have the responsibility for following the treatment plan recommended by the practitioner primarily responsible for your care. This may include following the instructions of nurses and allied health personnel as they carry out the coordinated plan of care and implement the responsible practitioner’s orders, and as they enforce the applicable hospital rules and regulations.
  5. You are responsible for keeping appointments and when unable to do so for any reason, for notifying the responsible practitioner or the hospital.
  6. You are responsible for your actions if you refuse treatment or do not follow the practitioner’s instructions.
  7. You are responsible for following the hospital rules and regulations affecting patient care and conduct.
  8. You are responsible for being considerate to the rights of other patients and hospital personnel, and for assisting in controlling of noise, and the number of visitors.
  9. You are responsible for being respectful of the property of other persons and of the hospital.
